Your Weekly Local Newsletter on everything going on in Horsham District
Thursday, 4th June 2026
Hello everyone,
June has arrived and the District is properly in motion. This week brings two of the year's most anticipated community events, the Horsham Artists' Art Trail opens across the District this weekend, with 52 artists and makers throwing open their doors across 18 venues on Saturday and Sunday, and St Catherine's Midnight Walk returns on Saturday evening, with hundreds of walkers setting out through Horsham under the stars to raise funds for local hospice care. The Horsham Borough Band opens the June Park Podium season on Sunday, and Friday Lates launches its 2026 season tonight at the Carfax Bandstand with country Americana band The Gamblers, free, outdoors, and a great way to start the summer.
Away from the events, two consultations are open and worth your attention: the reorganisation of local government in Sussex closes on 15th June, and the district-wide Community Governance Review, which will shape how all 32 parish councils across Horsham District are structured ahead of major local government changes, closes 22nd June. Both are meaningful opportunities to have a say.
The weather is mixed but warming; Thursday brings thundery showers, but things lift through the weekend and into a pleasant start to next week, with 19°C on the cards from Sunday onwards.
Enjoy the week. 🌿

🏡Local Business Spotlight
The Post House Cafe, Henfield

The Post House cafe sits on Henfield High Street and has quietly become one of the best spots in the District for a proper sit-down. Breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea all day, coffee roasted at an independent Sussex roastery, and a walled garden that comes into its own on a day like the ones forecast for Monday and Tuesday this week.
The food is largely homemade: quiche, sausage rolls, pies, a solid salad selection, plus vegan and gluten-free options. The bacon and sausage baps use locally sourced butcher's meat, and the afternoon teas are worth booking ahead for. They're fully licensed too, so a glass of Sussex wine or fizz with lunch is entirely on the cards.
On the last Friday of each month they open in the evenings for their Platter and Prosecco nights, cocktails, twinkling lights and a relaxed crowd. Dogs on leads are welcome throughout.

🏡House of the Week

Blackstone Lodge, Blackstone Lane, Henfield
Blackstone Lane is one of those addresses that people in this part of Sussex tend to know about. Quiet, wooded, and thoroughly unspoiled, and Blackstone Lodge sits right at the heart of what makes it special.
The house is a substantial New England-style residence set within around 14 acres of Sussex countryside, with uninterrupted views south towards Wolstonbury Hill and the South Downs. Five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and over 6,700 square feet in total once you include the detached studio and self-contained annexe. The kitchen and dining room is the engine of it, handcrafted cabinetry, an Aga, a log burner, and double doors straight out to the gardens. The principal suite upstairs has its own roof terrace with views across the grounds that are hard to put a number on.
Outside, the 14 acres take in formal gardens, open fields, a tranquil pond at the southern end, and a collection of outbuildings that cover most conceivable uses. Two miles from Henfield, eight from Brighton, and with South Downs walks accessible directly from the land. A rare one.

🍽️ Restaurant Recommendation
Everyman Horsham, Piries Place
If you haven't been to the Everyman yet, it's worth knowing it's more than just a cinema. Tucked into Piries Place, it has a proper bar, a covered terrace, and the Spielburger kitchen, burgers, snacks and cocktails served straight to your sofa seat or in the bar.

The retro-styled interior makes it a decent spot for an evening out in its own right, not just a stop before the film. Good for a date night, a catch-up, or honestly just treating yourself to a comfortable Friday evening without going far.
